Best fix for my Convertible Rear Windshield
So last summer my Sebring convertible roof was peeling from my rear window. I didn't want to replace the roof (the most common suggestion) so I glued it with some Permatex Black Super Weatherstrip Adhesive for a mere $5. I can't believe how well this held up throughout the winder and this summer. It doesn't appear to be peeling at all, I thought I might have to re-glue it a few times a year but it's holding up great.
I know this is kind of a boring entry but I'm amazed every time I notice how well this has held up...

MacBook Rumors seem to be rising...
There seem to be lots more rumors on new MacBook refreshes lately and with their free iTouch (or Nano) promo (students, teachers or staff), I really want to buy now before the promo ends on September 15. I'd prefer they've added GPS to the iTouch but that's just not happening yet. I'd more excited about an iTouch with the new Apps store :)

Searches for Movie Characters

So I've gotten a few searches here lately for "favorite movie characters" so I went and checked out the old post. Now I think it's time to watch a few f those old movies again:
Yes, I realize they are completely different types of movies. But those happen to be a few from that list that I own...

Waiter Rant - The Book
So I've always enjoyed the Waiter Rant but now he's got a book called Waiter Rant: Thanks for the Tip--Confessions of a Cynical Waiter. Most of the stories are pretty good, but probably a bit embellished. Spend a few minutes at the site if you think you might like it but go back a few week to before he starts talking about the book.
I think the cover is a little boring, they're a little more open overseas, here's a picture of the UK cover of Waiter Rant...

The Day The Earth Stood Still - The Original
So I watched the 1951 version of The Day The Earth Stood Still last night and as I said last week it is still an amazing science fiction movie. I made Kelly sit through it so I was hoping it was as good as I remembered, it was (and she seemed to think so too).
The line this movie is the most famous for is
It's certainly not as mainstream as "these aren't the droids you're looking for", but..."Klaatu barada nikto"
This was one of the first movie DVDs I ever purchased (maybe the first), it hit a good price on-line so I picked it up (I never bought movies for VHS but that's about the time when I started for DVDs). I never watched it until now. THe sound was THX remastered and was very clear but the voices just weren't as loud as the sound effects so if you turned it up to hear the next time the sound effects came on it was blaring. The good part was there wasn't a lot where people were talking and there were effects.
One of my favorite quotes from the movie was
"I am fearful when I see people substituting fear for reason."It was definitely a thinking sci-fi movie...
Instant gratification: You can rent it from Amazon for your TiVo or from iTunes (but it's only $7.50 to buy it from Amazon).

I wish Biorhythms were more reliable !!!
I wish things like biorhythms were more reliable! Why? Check out my biorhythm for September 19th, 2008!!
As a result I think for that weekend:
And I think it's pretty clear for the few weeks after that I just need to hide out as I begin my downward spiral. I guess that's the downside of these things...
THis is a widget for my Mac desktop.

MobileMe 30 day credit !
While a lot of people seem to complain about the .Mac / MobileMe service I've always had pretty good success. The biggest thing I use it for is iDisk so that all my laptop files get automagically backed up to the server, I can then access those same files from the web and have the get mirrored to one of my other Macs. It does the same for the my bookmarks and mail settings (and it'll do the same for contacts and calendar, but I haven't been using my mac for that). They are removing the web access to the bookmarks, I only occasionally used this, but I don't understand why they took this away (it was an already written feature so why remove it); I'm especially annoyed since I renewed for a year and then they took the feature away.
For the same cost they just increased storage from 10 GB to 20GB so that's a bonus. They're still more expensive than most storage on-line but the connivence is what makes it worth it. It's also slow if you just decide to sync up gigs and gigs of data, but it'll get there eventually and it resumes seamlessly (usually) the next time I connect.
I did have some MobileMe problems during the transition and the iPhone 2.0 launch (I don't have an iPhone) but they all resolved themselves. As a result for those problems and the ones others had they are offering a free MobileMe MobileMe30-day credit extension to your account (you were a .Mac member whose account was active as of July 9, 2008 or you are a new MobileMe member who created your account on or before July 15, 2008 at 7:00 PM PDT).

Philly Steak and Cheese
So I'm in some restaurant having the best Philly Steak and Cheese sandwich ever! It"s more of a real steak sandwich than a sliced one. The French Onion Soup was great too, but it was way too hot!
But I have no idea where I am! Some Bistro on Washtenaw Road near Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti. The name doesn"t appear to be written anywhere inside the restaurant...
Nice place. With lots of TVs for the sports crowd, but not really a sports bar. A few pool tables here too. Free WiFi too...
I'll have to check the sign on the way out for the location and update this later!
Later:
Ahh, it"s just called the "Bistro Bar and Grill", it does say "Bistro" all over the place in there...
It's at 4735 Washtenaw and I'm still not sure if it's Ann Arbor or Ypsilanti but it's in the area of St Joseph's hospital.

It's Friday!!
It's the weekend! I have nowhere that I have to be and I'm pretty excited about that. Happy hour today, a movie some time and who knows what else but I definitely plan to sleep in for a few days in a row. I think it's raining tomorrow, so I'll try to get some stuff done around the house. My Mom got her new bike yesterday (we went shopping a few weeks ago) so maybe I'll visit her and we'll go for a ride Sunday.
That's it! I'm just happy the the next two days don't fall on a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday...!

Why Put Your Life on The Internet ?!?
So the idea of putting your life on the internet came up at work today. It was really more about people putting inappropriate things on-line. But the question was asked and I couldn't come up with a good answer. I had some answers but I didn't think I could make someone understand if they didn't get it just a little bit.
I remembered back into the days when Heather was trying to get me to understand blogging and I just didn't get it. Partially because I always put my life out there so it wasn't something new, but the (semi)regular posting and using special software to do it I just didn't understand. Let alone when she tried to explain trackbacks and pings. And if a geek like me didn't get it, how can I get other people to?
Now here I am 1800+ posts later (and a million spam comments) and I still don't have a good answer.
Tell me more...

The Day The Earth Stood Still - The Remake
So the original The Day The Earth Stood Still is one of the quintessential science fiction movies ever made. I can barely remember any old SciFi Black & White movies that I've seen (that didn't have Godzilla in them) but this one has always stuck in my head. Very little action but an excellent story. I never knew it was such a classic, I just thought it was a great movie that I liked, but I've seen so many references to "Klaatu barada nikto" throughout my life I realized* I wasn't the only one who thought so (but as a by-product I also realized I was a nerd).
They've decided to remake remake The Day The Earth Stood Still with Keanu Reeves. The trailer looks interesting but I'm not sure if it'll live up to the original. While I'm a fan of Keanu Reeves, I won't say he's the most excellent actor out there but his movies are either great or lame (generally not in the middle). And even though there was only a quick glimpse of Gort, the preview made me feel like it will not be lame. So I'm very hopeful.

Hancock mini-review
So I just saw Hancock and I really enjoyed it. A lot of laugh out loud moments. An excellent part for Will Smith. If you think this is yor type of movie than I bet you'll enjoy it.
But the movie was different than I expected, I'm not sure if "twist" is the right word but it was something completely not expected. So go see it quickly, before you hear about it or before they change the TV trailers to reveal it.
The more interesting stuff is in the twist, so that's all I've got to say...
